Tired Earth

Mourn the loss
Burn the tongue
Still biting bitter pills
Chipping fangs and breaking bones
Here submerged
Left unsung
In splintered tombs
Graves of world's left unexplored
Set in icy stone
Misty eyed
Aching lungs
Attuned to treading oceans
A naked dread
Silently built
Preternaturally indwelt
But seldom understood
Light the pyre
Finished rite
Soft as fire
But burned to rock
By aged light
Bewitched and still
Bound by power
Enthralled with spells
I bury threads
At last released
In native soil
With only an unholy grace
Indifference a medicine
Apathy a tincture
Punctured wounded heart
Pursuing sutured features
Leaving futures soft
Fantasies refined
Tired of drifting off
From realities defined
I weep for tired ground
Dreaming soil
That once was not a garden
Where love has never dwelt
I turn away from sunlight
Bitten by the moon
Smitten all the same
Dancing as a fool
Laying this undying thing
To final rest at last
And leaving true love's blade
As a guard around the neck
Tired Earth
