Perfect Distortions

As we grow older memories distort, growing more exaggeratedly vivid in some ways, more dull in others. Music and smell are the two things that trigger memories the easiest, they are tied deeply to that part of our brains. The trancelike state we enter while experiencing music can transport us to worlds within be they memories, fantasies, or nightmares.
Perfect Distortions
Vocoded distortions
Incongruous portions
These liminal forces
An ominous portent
Moving into this space
With no intentions
Preventative measures
Left vulnerable
This melody is swimming
And I'd almost swear that it's alive
Between this mad mind and these ear drums
Flashing in the night
Embers of lost romance
The chaos I can't remember
Anxiety between us
As I asked you to dance
Avoiding this adaptation
Selfish escape from evolution
I put another day to rest
Without absolution
And this heart in my hands
This visual torment
A cascade of events
Apocalyptic warnings
This harbinger is screaming
Thankful that I'm alive
Inhaling breaths like they're my last
A burning in my mind
I thought I'd build a shelter
Clean myself up for this
It was all off to the races
All engines fucking go
Debris of what was left
The abyss I was staring into
Insecurity becomes us
But somehow I was the one alone
And this heart in my hands
This visual torment
A cascade of events
Apocalyptic warnings
Data corrupted
Mistaken misfortune
Mercy has been broken
By dystopian forces
This memory is fleeting
A feeling without regret
Passion play with nothing else to say
But I'll never forget
